Fence Company in Vestavia Hills, AL
Birmingham Fence Pros builds new fences and repairs old ones in Vestavia Hills, about 6 miles south of downtown Birmingham along U.S. Route 31. With 39,102 residents at the 2020 census, Vestavia is the third-largest city in Jefferson County, and it reaches into Shelby County too.
About Vestavia Hills
The city takes its name from Vestavia, the 1925 estate of former Birmingham mayor George B. Ward on the crest of Shades Mountain. Ward's house was modeled on the circular Temple of Vesta in Rome, and its domed garden gazebo still stands near the highway as a gateway landmark. Residential development began in 1946 on the southern flank of Shades Mountain, the city incorporated in 1950, and today it includes Vestavia, Liberty Park, and Cahaba Heights.
Fences on Shades Mountain Lots
Much of Vestavia sits on the side of Shades Mountain, and that drives how we build:
Grade changes
Backyards that drop off steeply need stepped fence sections, taller posts on the low side, and careful attention to gaps under the bottom rail where pets can slip through.
Rocky ground
Mountain soils here carry sandstone and chert, so post holes often hit rock. We plan for it in the quote instead of surprising you on build day.
Wind and storms
Spring and fall storms push hard on solid privacy fences. Deeper posts and the right post spacing keep a fence standing.

Vestavia Hills sets its own fence rules, separate from Birmingham's, and many subdivisions, including newer ones around Liberty Park, have HOA design guidelines for height, material, and color. We check both before we finalize your design, and we call 811 before digging.
